3 Traditions That Makes Eid Al-Fitr Complete

Muslims all over the world are getting ready to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, a three-day celebration that comes right after the holy month of Ramadan. In Eid al-Fitr, Muslim families in the Middle East follow some traditions that gather the relatives together to spend a day or even more together while having good food, kids playing together and adults sharing talks and memories in a happy atmosphere.

There are some traditions people do in Eid al-Fitr that makes the occasion complete. In this article, we will be showing you 3 of those traditions and let you know how Eid al-Fitr is celebrated in the Arab Countries.

1- Eid Prayer

On the last day of Ramadan, everyone is excited about the Eid prayers, it gathers everyone from kids, adults, men, and women at the mosques. You find neighbors meeting and going to the mosque together. Around the mosques, you would find decorations and balloons decorating the area spreading happiness.

Eid al-Fitr prayers revolve around asking for Allah’s forgiveness, mercy, peace, and blessings. After the prayers, everyone is ready to visit relatives or hold large celebrations at home and celebrate Eid al-Fitr happily with their loved ones.

2- Kahk al-Eid (Eid cookies)

One of the most remarkable traditions in the Arab world when it comes to food in Eid al-Fitr is Kahk al-Eid or Eid cookies. Kahk al-Eid is circular biscuits or cookies covered in powdered sugar and stuffed with nuts, dates, agameya (a mixture of honey and nuts) or served plain.

In the Arab world, families gather before Eid al-Fitr to home-bake those cookies or they get it from their local pastries. Kahk el Eid is an essential in every Arabian house during Eid al-Fitr as families serve it to their guests or even gift it to each other.

And for many Arab countries like KSA, UAE, Bahrain, and Jordan, Eid al-Fitr can’t be complete without having Kahk and coffee together. Either for breakfast or for serving guests but this kahk-coffee pairing is a must in Eid al-Fitr.

3- Eid Gifts

Gifts have their own happiness during Eid. Kids usually spend the whole month of Ramadan waiting for Eid al-Fitr to receive their gifts from the family. Not just kids who receive Eid gifts but relatives gift each other upon visiting or they send gifts if they cannot meet. Husbands in some Arab countries gift their wives too as an appreciation for their hard work during Ramadan.
